After a long day of studying for upcoming exams most people would opt to wind down a bit by hearing some music or perhaps watching some TV to forget about the upcoming troubles. I would normally opt for that route myself but tonight I just couldn't not take the alternative route of writing a blog. Upon switching the TV on to wind down for the day and prepare for another day of studying I was reminded that today the people of Massachusetts where making an important choice. The state of Massachusetts has for the past 47 years been represented in the US Senate by one of the most Liberal US Senators, the late Democrat Senator Edward Kennedy, brother to slain President John F Kennedy and former Attorney General Robert Kennedy and son to the late Senator Joseph Kennedy. Indeed Massachusetts had voted consistently only Democrat since the early 1970's and currently is a state with a Democrat governor, an all Democrat Congressional Delegation and a Democrat controlled state house. Indeed taking registered voters as a sample Democrats outnumber the Republicans in Massachusetts 3 to 1. It would thus be pretty fair to label Massachusetts pretty much a Democrat safe haven.
Yet the people of Massachusetts who a year ago rejected Republic Senator John McCain by 26% against the then Senator now President Barack Obama tonight spoke up loud and clear. Their message was clear, sharp and direct...the Change You Can Believe In promised by the Obama Camp and his liberal cronies has not been forthcoming! The Democrat run White House and Democrat dominated US administration has quite simply failed to deliver results and has only dissappointed its people.
The people of Massachusetts responded by electing Republican State Senator Scott Brown to Kennedy's old seat by an absolute majority. Brown is a so called Conservative Republican so for this liberal state to elect him is by no means an easy feet. To put it in Maltese terms to make the scale of this defeat clear, this is a situation likeable to the Sliema Local Council Election being won by the Labour Party by an over 50% mark or the Bormla Local Council being won by the Nationalist Party by an over 50% mark.
Scott Brown's victory has indeed sent shivers down the Obama camp. Indeed the US is soon to face state wide US Senate elections, elections which could see the Democrat hold on the US Senate evaporate and an arrogant White House which has thus far used its majority to hold back any real discussions within the US Senate having to negotiate with its political adversary the GOP.
In the shorter term Brown's victory could spell the death blow to Obama's health reform or perhaps more aptly put his imposition of a Socialist health system on a Capitalist system. This is since this Democrat defeat denies the Democrats the fillibuster proof majority thus allowing the GOP to finally have a say in the US Senate. Naturally typical of left wing politicians the Obama camp just won't take the people's no for an answer. Scott Brown's victory is not even an hour old and CNN, also known as the Democrats News Magazine, is already discussing the possibility of fast tracking the health reform in order to have it approved before Senator Elect Brown takes his seat. Indeed even the Democrats leader in the US Senate has thus far refused to comment clearly on when Brown will be able to take his seat; of course not, the Democrats first need to discuss and see whether there's any way to avoid discussion and impose the health care reform before the people of Massachusetts can have their voice heard through Senator Scott Brown!
In little over a year Barack Obama has gone from the towering heights of his victory against Senator McCain and a 70%+ approval rating in January 2009 to having already lost two governerships and a senate seat in clear Democrat territory with an approval rating hovering at 50% or less.
Naturally its only normal to suffer mid term jitters and its only normal to suffer defeat at the polls in a mid term election. But Obama is not even there yet; he's only just began; the voyage of change has only just began and already its gotten more then one flat tyre and no spare wheel seems to be on the way. The Obama administration is showing no signs of changing, no signs of any difference this year from what we saw last year. The Obama administration is fast showing itself to be what it has been right from the start; an INCAPABLE ADMINISTRATION, run by an INCAPABLE PARTY, with INCAPABLE POLITICIANS led by an INCAPABLE COMMANDER IN CHIEF!
I am sure that in the end the United States of America and its true values will triumph; I am sure that in the end the American way will triumph for the United States of America and its values of liberty, freedom and democracy will always tower heigher then any Barack Obama, the inexperienced Senator who's luck (and massive funding) helped him become President!
Congratulations Scott Brown for showing to the world that the GOP is back and ready to fight for the United States of America!
So according to you, it is the democratic part if the US senate which is responsible for "holding back any real discussions", not the opposition?
ReplyDeleteCool - you oppose a socialist health care system. Is it logical to assume that you feel the same way about the Maltese health care system? And on another note, you made reference to "the people's no" to universal health care. When exactly did this vote occur? Or are you using Fox news statistics (which is comparable to Net news)?
Lastly I find it very amusing that you recalled Barack Obama's lack of experience, where if McCain had won the election Sarah Palin (the one who can see Russia from her home) would be vice president. Ironic no?
